I have these on my 318TI and they only need a coat of paint as they are in excellent nick with hardly no marks at all.
I was going to rub down and go straight for paint but need to know which paint description to use as in colour.

Any ideas please?

Mart.

bbs advised someone on here a while back that the closest match for their e30 wheels was VW diamond silver, which is a nice bright colour, and easy to get hold of. just make sure you give them a good coat of lacquer.

whatever you do, steer clear of generic off the shelf 'wheel silver' colours as ive tried several makes over the years and they have all been dissapointing.
cheers,

harry

Doesn't look alot wrong with that colour in that picture. Doesn't look a bad finish either. Pictures can tell a thousand lies though

That's what i thought, but think that's for the OEM wheels. Those in the original post look darker.

it doesn't seem that Halfords stock Polaris Silver, only Titanium and Arctic:

I got some 'ready made' Polaris Silver in the past as I was gonna touch my wheels up a bit so to speak and the colour match was terrible. :(

yep, i had heard that too, then i read about bbs themselves recommending vw diamond silver, and happened to have a tin in the shed as the mrs' golf is the same colour. tried it and thought it worked well.

i've not compared it directly to a standard bmw bbs wheel though.

it's also a very common colour and most places will have it on the shelf.

paints4u made me up some estoril blue 335 in aerosols and the colour is a mile off :(
cheers,

harry

pic was more for an idea of the colour, it's a nice cool, aluminium silver. a lot of silvers have yellow in them which gives a warmer tinge to the colour which doesnt work very well on wheels.

the finish isnt bad, but doesnt polish up with the depth it would if i'd spent more time and put a bit more lacquer on, then polished them up, certainly a lot better than most 5 minute refurbs anyway :)
cheers,

harry
