So with the abundance of e36 tourings belonging to the zone, I had an idea, which is probably crap.
My e30 is sorn'd with an uber never-ending list of jobs accompanying it, thus getting it round the shows again this year is looking unlikely as I don't want to rush it. On the other hand I'd love to show my e36 at some point but don't really have the time or inclination to get suitably involved in another forum in order to get it on their area. Anyone else in this situation?
I was thinking get a banner made up for our sub-division and crowd a few of our tourers together alongside our traditional representatives. Something like 'e30zone daily ride regiment' or 'e30zone 36wagon division' etc etc.

No? Guess I'll have to wax it up and leave it in the car park then :(

I've even less interest in 'showing' my e36 touring than anyone in their right mind would have in looking at it, but I'll join that club! :)

Yeah I was expecting it to go for more but I guess I was there at the right time! I haven't got round to fitting mine yet if I'm honest but just put new gaskets/seals in it so hopefully chuck her on on Saturday. How long is it likely to take? The alpina one is a straight swap as far as I know. Couple of hours?

I'm sure we could sneak it in amongst the cinqoporte's

Redcar, yes mate I'll throw some more pics up when I finish work, I need to take some recent ones as it's just been resprayed sans roof rails. I'm GAGGING for an oem BMW roof spoiler but the UK Market didn't get them apparently so I'm trying to brush up on my European relations! All I can remember from school is 'mein auto ist kaputt', strangely a very apt phrase for my car owning career!

Is the alpina manifold metal as opposed to the stock plastic one?

Yes mate it's metal, hopefully see some torque gains aswell rather than just top end with low end losses.

so i've read the guy that does the M50 conversion kit and big bore throttle bodies has flow tested an M50 inlet and the alpina manifold. The M50 flows slightly more apparantly! Not alot more but the runner lengths are shorter i think. Longer runners will be tuned for more low mid range torque i expect.

Still it will gain your 2.8 i expect and tart the bay up nicely. From what i've seen it will just bolt on Matt.

Those style 5's are the same size as my alpinas. What offset are they and what size rear boots are you running?

Thats interesting Si! I fitted it on saturday and have instantly noticed a MASSIVE difference in how the car drives and sounds. Ok i don't think the ecu has got used to it yet so it idles a bit low and cuts out sometimes but its only had about 3 or 4 hours on it. Obviously a remap is on the cards but i might pop some cams in before that and change the TB.

The car feels eager as hell now, even under normal driving, the throttle response is in a different league! low and mid range torque feel hugely improved and at the top end there is an almighty hard pull, and i mean hard! Overall the car is much faster than it was before and the induction note has taken on an almost race car tone, albeit not quite as loud a bark from the chav-cone.

Here's a couple of rubbish iPhone pics. Note the missing fuel rail cover as the cut outs were not big enough for the runners, so maybe an m50 one will fit?

P.S i don't know why the pics are kind of upside down, i did rotate them before i uploaded to photobucket but they stayed the same :?

You went from a standard M52 inlet mainfold to the Alpina one?

Oh sorry Si i forgot about the wheels! I'll have to double check the offsets mate, i think the rear is around 15 from memory. rear tyres are 215/40/17. I have got a set of staggered Alpina's for it actually mate (for when i fancy an image change every now and then!) and they sit quite far in on the back, compared to the BBS' at least! they run a 225/45 front and a 235/40 rear. Smaller than they are supposed to be i know but there isn't any stretch really. And they're cheaper! winkeye

i think it looks 100 times better on the style 5's myself. i was just wondering on the tyre sizes thats all. Interesting to see what people run.

My alpinas are et46 or something but i think they stick out a fair way. Any more on the back and it would be rubbing for sure
