Hello,
I've started to notice some wisps of steam from the front of the E46 after shutdown (the fan seems to pull the steam under the bonnet when running) and I can see a small weep on the front centre of the rad where I think a stone might have hit it - there are some bent fins.

Is this possible for a mechanical doofus like me or should I run it down to the local specialist? How many hours am I likely to be asked for in labour?

It's a 330 M54B30 manual (pre-facelift) if that helps...

Cheers :)

I'd say go for it yourself mate, I think most rads are the same for most of the E46 range, I broke an E46 318 saloon last year, and fitted the rad to my mates 325i sport, same rad.
Not that hard to change, the pipes just clip off, a couple of torx screws to remove the ac rad from the front of it, take off the fan shroud and coolant bottle, a couple of small sensors and it should lift right out.
Just mind and bleed it up properly, thats the important bit!! :D

One like this would fit...New Rad

Sorted. :D
