A mate of mine has bought an e46 and ran it for a month or two now and it's developed a bit of a vibration under heavy acceleration. When he pulls away from standstill it's ok if he does it slowly but if the clutch comes up too fast the car will pull away juddering.
He's taken it to a garage and they said it was some rubber thing on the half shaft needs replacing. I think it sounds like the donut on the prop and if that's the case I'll just do it for him but if it sounds like something more then perhaps I won't be so confident..!

Propshaft guibo (donut) are prone for failure on big power cars,

The centre support bearing of the propshaft is also rubber mounted and usually fails not long after the rubber guibo.

Id hazard a guess that this is your problem from your description. Suggest you replace both so the job is done with for good.

I had a feels it might be down to both failing, not had to switch the bearing over before but doesn't look too hard to do.
It's only a 318(1.9) but driven a bit hard from my understanding, mileage is in excess of 100k so these factors probs contribute.
