Has anyone tried putting an m51 2.5 tds lump in an e30?
Ive got an engine knocking about and thought it might be interesting

Here in Holland are now 2 guys on the Dutch e30 forum that have succesfully done that build.
One is running a chipped ecu that makes 170 bhp and about 350 Nm

Are the modifications similar to an m50/52 swap?

You have to use the e34 manis and sump yes.
Get e36 tds engine mounts.
The rest is similar to the m50/52 swap yes.
Only thing is, a tds has drive by wire throttle so make sure you have all the parts for that to make it work.
Best is to get an e34 donor.
