Looking for a new daily wafter and fancy an e39. Was looking at a 525 tds but the seller was a dishonest shite o walked away.

Can you get a decentish one for around the grand mark now a days? Ideally like leather and auto but not too fussed and any major things to look out for when viewing? Engine wise, nothing too big, 525i ish

cheers

id stay clear of the tds engines - lots of fuel pump issues costing 1k+ to resolve (car switching off on idle all the time!!)

Loads of them available for under a grand but they've all been to the moon and back and look tired.

Lots of sensors & stuff which stop things working, pixels on the displays in the car, heavy on suspension components.

Plenty of choice so I guess you've just got to see a few - I'd be buying one with the longest MOT I could find so you can always flog it on quickly without having to re-MOT it if it turns out to be a snotter.
