Indeed it is, BUT, it is still only a 528i with a few tasty bits on it. 20k ,even in these inflationary times is still a big lump of coin 8O

Is there not some dubiety about this car's provenance?

Was it not spotted as a standard 528i, then a year or two later it had become a B2.8?
At the end of the day, that's all Sytner's did, but at least they did it at the time.

Did it live in Scotland for a short time? I saw it - or the one I'm thinking of - at that time and it is indeed in superb nick, but I know of a very, very good e28 M5 that can be had for less than half and several superb M635s that can be had for significantly less and either of them are twice the car of any B2.8.

A B9 3.5, though may be a different matter.

interesting !
the condition is remarkable Boyd I doubt it has ever seen scottish weather !
the chap that owns it really knows his onions, he has owned this for quite some time it's part of his personal collection
also owns 3 E28 M5's, (all below 30k) 2 M6's, 4 M535i's and an awesome E28 B7 turbo,

The one I'm thinking of had less miles - maybe 15000 - when I saw it in about 2005/6.

I think Andyboy knows of its slightly dubious history and there's something in the back of my mind that says that he, in fact, unearthed its history.

It might be an entirely different car, but it's a very similar one.

I'll have a photo of it, but can't see the VRM of the one for sale.

I drooled over this car when i first saw it for a long time it's very very, original and untouched almost timewarp

not many will pay 20k for it i know, but then thats a good thing ?
it's in very good hands where it is !

Last month there was a very very nice B9 3.5 for sale at 15k. The OP car is a bit of a none starter IMO, AIIRC has been for sale for ever and a day!

A B9 3.5 is worlds away from this. IIRC the B2.8 is just a dressed up 528i purely for the UK market and constructed by Sytners here out of UK delivered 528is. It's never been near Buchloe.

The car is a standard 528i which was bought from a garage in Huddersfield around 6-7 years ago, still on the Metric wheels and devoid of Alpina bits. It was bought by an individual in Scotland (south of Glasgow) who then stuck all the Alpina bits on, plus a revolting Zender rear skirt which has since been removed. The Alpina plaque was the last bit to be added.

It's not an Alpina of any sort and as such, is worth about half the asking price.
