Hi,
I have a quick question that I can't find a simple answer to......

I've just got my BMW318is back on the road after it was a cat X write off.

It's taxed and insured and has passed it's MOT, but has a VIC against it.

Is it illegal to drive it withouth the VIC being done?

Cheers :?

Has it had a VIC and been issued with a failure notice?

yes it does, but in-order to get a vic test you have to mot the car, without a mot they will not run a vic test

No, it's just tagged on the vehicle identity if you log onto DVLA

Not so, at least last time I checked.
All a car has to be able to do for a VIC is to move under its own steam. It doesn't need to be complete or repaired completely.
If you intend to drive it to a VOSA centre on public roads, though, then it will need both an MOT certificate and insurance.

You're OK without a VIC pass as long as the V5 is in your name. Problems will arise if you try to change the keeper.
