HI,
Could you tell me if Hid bulbs are a direct replacement on the compact (HB4) as in I dont have to open up the back of the housing like the E-30?
Cheers, Mart.

Doesn't the compact have different headlights to the rest of the E36 range? Ie: no projectors?

That's just from memory, but it should be fairly obvious if you look at em... This is E36 right?

yep, if you want hids in a compact ( and don't want to blind people / look like a chav ) you need a pair of headlamps from a non-compact e36. they yuse h1 bulbs and fit exactly the same as e30 kits.
posted these pics elsewhere the other day as the best pics i had at hand to show the difference in lights,

FWIW the standard E36 lights are rubbish too - make sure you do fit the HIDs straight away!

have you bothered to read any of the posts above? hids into a compact are not plug and play.
well, they can be but they don't work properly as the light setup is completely different and you end up with a messy, dazzling, undefined beam.
