Ive just had my car re-gassed but has made no difference in stopping SLIGHTY cold air coming out the vents opposed to ice cold. The system is making all the same sounds that it did when it worked. This fault has not suddenly happened, the air has been getting warmer for about approx 6 months.Any ideas. The car is a 318i y2k.

Sounds like you have a slow leak. Possibly a seal.
Did they put dye in with the oil and gas when they re-gassed your system last time?
If they did then you need someone with a UV light to check all the joins in the system, around the compressor and also around the condenser which is prone to corrosion and holes from stone damage as its at the front.

Cheers for the info Barry,I don't think they put dye in it,from what your saying it doesn't sound to much of an expensive job.I got a quote for a compressor today, supply only from Vines £600 plus VAT so I hope its not that at fault.

I doubt very much that the compressor will be at fault. 9 times out of 10 it will be a leaking condenser (the air con rad that sits in front of the coolant rad)
Go get it re-gassed but with some dye and ask them to check for leaks.

Did it blow cold at all after the regas???? As Barry says sounds like a leak, I would ask the garage that did it how much gas they recovered if any, next step should really be an OFN test.
