I've recently bought an E46 to put my missus in, and have been trying to recode the second key to fire the remote c/l. In doing so, I've now deleted the remote function for the first key... Shes going to kick off in a most glorious fashion when she takes the kids to school in the morning -

Anyone got any ideas/done this before???

A/- Sit in the car with all the doors shut and windows up with your key fobs (all your fobs need to be done at the same time)
B/- With one of your keys turn the ignition on then off and remove the key
C/- Press and hold the unlock botton and then press the lock button 3 times.
D/- Release all buttons and the locks will bounce up and down.
- Repeat this from step C with the other key/keys (press and hold unlock and press lock 3 times, locks will bounce)

Note: Only switch your ignition on once, doing so again while programming will reset the process and you will have to start again.

Only switch the ignition on and off once at the beginning

Thanks for the info. Its fine upto stage D. The locks don't bounce up and down for some reason. The first key worked fine until old clumsy fingers here attempted to code the second one. I shall perservere !

well f@ck me in the @rse. The online instructions don't mention holding the unlock button down when you put it in the ignition, as per the Youtube video. If you do that, it works ! And I won't be in the doghouse in the morning

Thanks for the help chaps :thumb:

Hahaha it does not mention holding the unlock button down when inserting the key into the igntion ! It should say this at stage B, but only instructs this to be down once the key has been removed, at stage C :? And I missed CSI on tv. And the bird when to bed with the right @rse. I am gonna be one smug bloke in the morning though 8)
