Got to change the passenger headlight on an E36 as the lense is cracked, how do they bolt in? Do they need any bumper removal or sillyness?
Thanks

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Simple job.
2 bolts on the top easily visible, and 2 down behind the headlight which can be removed with an extension bar. 10mm iirc.

I've done this job - getting it out and swapping the glass is the easy bit.
You need to pull the indicator out to get at one of the hidden bolts IIRC
Getting the lines right when you put it back in is a different matter

From the angel eye fitting guide I did for PBMW:
Radiator Cover: This need to be removed (4 bolts, 2 screws). Bolts are 8mm, screws are crossheads

Headlamp: 5 bolts. 3 on the top, 1 on either side (the inner ones made accessible by the radiator cover removal. The ones on the outer side can be accessed without removing the indicator but it helps.Bolts are 8mm. There are two connections at the back of each headlamp.

Gently remove, ensuring that you do not scratch the nose cone part underneath. If you have headlamp washers these will need to be pulled out slightly to get the necessary angle to allow removal.

The only thing that can go wrong, is that the plastic 'bolt' that the fixings screw into can start to unscrew, rather than the screw coming out of the plastic.

Important to use a spanner to keep it still while removing the fixing to try and maintain the alignment.Brianmoooore wrote:The only thing that can go wrong, is that the plastic 'bolt' that the fixings screw into can start to unscrew, rather than the screw coming out of the plastic.
