My old man bought E90 330d msport brand new and hated it.
He traded it in for a E60 530d msport.
And lost a huge wedge in doing so.

They dont have any soul for me?.
Sounds weird?

That is an E91.

Saloon E90
Touring E91
Coupe E92
Cabrio E93

What year is the car Steve? If its a 318i then it will have either the N42 (carried over from the the E46 or the N43. Both have their problems.

The N42's suffer from timing chain problems with the tensioners failing or the guid rails breaking. Oil leaks from the cam cover, sump gasket and vacuum pump are common, less common are valvetronic faults.

N43's suffer from miss fires and this is VERY common. The dealer repair up untill last week was to replace the coil, plug and injector on the effected cylinder but that has changed now. The root of the problem is the piezo injector. NOx (Nitrogen oxide) sensors can also fail as can the cat which is part of the exhaust manifold. They also have an electric water pump and these sometimes fail as can the mapped thermostat.

General E9x problems are the ELV (electric steering lock) and the central locking motors in the doors.

As its a 318i it will have the small diff which can become noisey with big miles.

Over all they are a very good, very capable car but they have the issues like all new'ish turds.

Labour the engine whilst driving. High gear, low rpms, low speed and accelerate. If there is a problem it will then play up.

If the dash starts doing impression of a disco then get the fault memory read ASAP.

I have got a 335d E92 Coupe and it is possibly the best car I have ever had. It has been remapped and the performance is unbelievable....supercar territory, and still returns 42 -44 mpg at 80 -85 mph on the motorway
0 - 60 mph has got to be sub 6 secs, and the torque just takes your breath away.
Brilliant car.
