E36 Strange Steering Feel?

Just after deciding to pass on the MGB GT,

the e36 has started being damn stiff to turn for the first 1/2 turn of lock in either direction.

IT almost feels unassisted, then assisted- its very unnerving!

Anyone any ideas?

Reservoir has plenty fluid- no bubbling in the fluid.

no unusual shining or belt noise..

So much for the newer run around- e30 back in daily service!

Any help appreciated

Loose power steering belt?

Change the fluid, or tighten up the belt Neil, can't think of anything else apart from you being a bit girly in turning the wheel, lol!

Steery wheel rubbing on the stalk controls?
Steering shaft rubbing on the exhaust?

I've gone all soft now I have an e36

Cheers malc- good suggestions.

I'll have to have a look at it.

Meanwhile the e30 takes 50 miles a day in its stride!
