Right gonna take a look at these 2 over the next couple of days, any info on what to look out for would be great, plus what are your thoughts on the motors? Cheers

Obviously the 'is' is the one to choose but the secretive mileage will need back-up. The floors on these can be horrific and they're a bit heavier on their suspension than an e30. Oh yeah, the door cards like to fall off
I should know because i am on my 3rd set on my 'is'

the climate control on nearly every model eventually needs a capacitor replaced which is a cheap and easy fix at about 20p so if the unit is playing up then this is a good bargaining tool for you as a new one from bmw is circa £300 ish, i got a back up replacement from the scrappies for £6
check the diff for leakage as the four pot diffs seem a lot weaker than six pot ones
the IS exhaust is quite expensive to replace so listen for any wisps
sorry if im stating the obvious, just listing the problems i encountered

The 316i looks the better car.

the IS has the 328 aport wheels, M3 bumpers and rubbing strips, all add up on 'little' things to make your car nicer. Plus it has the engine, much better engine than the 316...

I just put a deposit down for an E36 318iS with the 1.9 M44 engine. Good to drive, can't wait until I go pick it up!
