Anyone know if I can stick an e46 rack and track rods etc straight on my e36? One on there is shagged and most second hand e36 bits these days are scrap! What one's the best rate etc?
Cheers
Tim

e46 track ends have a larger joint than e36 ones , but e36 track rod ends will fit onto e46 inner trackrods . e46 sport steering rack with new e36 trackrod ends is wot i would do with my e36 when the time comes .

The e46 compact rack is what I've been told to go for, quicker than the standard e46 one, the same as later e46 sports, but all compacts had the quicker ratio so no worries about the exact spec of the car it's from. Theres a quicker ratio z3 rack, but people know what they are so they tend to be quite expensive.
cheers,

thanks for the replies, v helpful! z3 one's out of budget for my runaround touring, but late e46 or e46 compact with e36 track rod ends sounds like it's the ticket! I actually think it may be the UJ and not the rack, one of the two is definitely nailed, will do a bit more investigation...
