Hi guys,

Parents are looking at buying a used E90 320d Coupe.

Are there any common faults with this car or things to look out for when looking??

Any help appreciated! Thanks

Apparently the honeywell electronic control on the turbo cannot be fixed if they fail requiring a complete new turbo?

Unless they're doing 15'000 miles a year, don't buy a 320d. They're okay and do 50+ mpg. They can also go expensively wrong and will easily wipe out any fuel savings.
The cure for this is to do regular (7-8000 mile) oil changes, warm it up slowly from cold and let the engine idle before shut down to save the turbo.

They should save themselves a couple of grand on the initial purchase price and buy a 325i manual Coupe, preferably the original N52 engined car which is a fantastic bit of kit - a proper BMW and not some rattling Vectra soundalike. The 320i is a nice car as well - they have a reputation for injector/ECU problems but are not as bad as they're made out to be. A nice torquey engine that will return 40 mpg on a run with ease.
