My cousins friend (female) drove her rover 25 k series from essex to barry (s.wales) and then rang me to ask if I'd have a look at it... Symtoms- juddering, boiling like a kettle, no heaters ect.

I said aw god, if that's a k series it sounds cooked, possibly headgasket... I go to have a look and you would NEVER guess what it was!! 8O

Coolant cap was sat on the battery!!!!

I have never known luck like this,, in short I filled with coolant and squeezed hell out of the pipes for ages, heaters on and hot for over an hour I repeated the process. All pipes heating up except 1 of the matrix pipes, took it for a run with a heavy foot and all of a sudden heaters... Been fine since!!!
1 lucky girl and 1 lucky K series

not really a bmw though is it ;)

k-series are a nightmare to bleed properly, i'll bet 99% of hgf on them are from people not checking the coolant level and getting an airlock leading to overheating and total hgf.
cheers,

Oh yeah lol, probably a "pub" talk convo haha. Posted in the wrong section, mods feel free to move :D

I have to say though, the fact it didn't spit ALL of its water and the motorway speeds kept enough cool air coming through the engine bay saved this car, I said to my cousin if it had been driven like that around town the car would be dead in 10-20 miles!! Luck is my word of the day :D
