Finaly bit the bullet and decided the tech1 needs the winter off the road to be restored to a decent standard. I know have a super chaved up e36 compact 318ti :D

One i bought on a whim and desperation but its actualy suprisingly good after me expecting little from it. Ive slated these for years and now i have one i can see why they are popular, although it should be pointed out this is only a winter hack with no sentiment to be given by me to it, an unloved turd in other words.

The only thing thats bugging me is the diesel-esq racket from the m42, which i have also slated heavily over the years but its a half decent unit to be fair overall.

Its got a vinyl roof due to a paint stripper attack apparently which i will be re-doing along with the bonnet in that carbon fibre wrap stuff for a bit more of a council look keeping with the theme along with the mtech bumpers and that will be its lot.

Im also tempted to borrow the LSD from the tech1 for a bit to keep it fit, ive already had the one peice gearknob out of the tech1 for this winkeye

Yes i can see the LSD going on forsure, will be needed if we get weather like last year.

Yeah it is very counciled and im going to put my deepest darkest council ideas into it on top of this, the kind of things i wouldnt dare do to an e30 :D

Should be a lot of fun :D

It's nice I'd leave the spoiler on boot on but take the other off. Is the roof painted black?

I dont mind the spoilers i think they look like a bar of soap without them :D Im panning on sticking with the council theme as its just a bit of no strings attached fun this one winkeye

And the roof has been done in vinyl sheet which is something you would find on a capri

It will be a chavs wet dream by the time im done with it, will help come resale time imo :D might even get a charger on it yet as it would be cost effective.

Ti is a name bmw gave to warm versions of there cars in the 70's i beleive and the 318ti uses the 318is engine in various guises, this one is the exact engine found in an is i beleive, i can see why they have a following also.

staley_turbo the tech1 isnt to bad its at the cross roads were you either do the work or leave it and end up with a rusty turd at the end of winter. I want it totaly mintg 4 next years show season. I seen a mint tech1 last night at a meet in coventry, ive seen it forsale before,it was black with a private plate with a few XX's in i think very nice

Its the most annoying thing when you find a better car than yours. I think you have picked the best time to put her away, i had to do mine as quick as possible before the winter came as i cant stand wet or even damp carpets. I don't see many tech 1s about, none to be honest, so lets save whats left 8)

Yeah i put her away as soon as the first salt hit the roads around here, perfect timing :D

A tech1 is a rare sight, i cant recall seing another before last night. The reg on that other one in coventry had SXI or something like that at the end, it looked mint but it was dark and mine looked mint in the dark also to be fair so you never know winkeye

Doesn't really look council at all. The spoilers aren't that bad. What does spoil it are the black roof and wheels.
Put the roof back to body colour and some proper colour (silver) wheels on and there wouldn't be anything wrong with it.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

i don't even mind the wheels that much.

i prefer the sleekit look so both spoilers would go.

Yes in the 'Ti' guise, they have the 318is engine. Not turbocharged. Although for some bizarre reason it is on the parkers website as a turbo... Sigh.

BMW breaker in Netherton, i drove past and saw a red errr... counciled compact on there :D

Put your 3.64 slipper on there and it will be the equivilent of about a 4.5, you will only hit about 110 flat out but getting there will be fun

Dont need an interior for mine ive got red leather 8)
