Ive just had a phone call from a good friend of mine who works for autoglass, he said he had just fitted a screen on a new shape bmw at a big house belonging to a doctor, in the doctors front garden there was an r reg 7 series in black with cream leather just sat for what looked like ages due to the fact it looked grubby and a little unloved (although all the panels seemed straight and the badge on the rear saying 740i winkeye )
Odviosly no tax or MOT

After haveing a quick chat with the doctor he explained it was takeing up space and and just wanted rid of it and was considering scapping it

So of course the second my friend left after completeing the job he immediately rang me and gave me the doctors number ......... ive just got of the phone to the guy know who seems like a real nice genuine guy who just wants rid and isnt sure what he has, he explained its a 4.4 v8 with an auto box and cream leather, he parked it up because a sensor went causeing it to fire on 4 which had happend before and it had gone into bmw which they had apparently fixed easy enough but he had just lost complete interest .....

Know im not to bad with bmws but i have no clue when it comes to 7 series and was hopeing someone on here could give me a little advice or maybe be interested in it or bits if i was to buy it and strip it ?

What sensor could it be ?

Is it worth me buying for the engine to possibly put the engine in mine or sell ?

Would you buy it ?

Regards
Dan

p.s i rekon i can get it for around £300 winkeye

I'd be bidding him £200 for it.

It is probably a cam sensor or crank sensor, about £80 from BMW each. There will be 2 cam sensors and 1 crank sensor at a guess.

I don't know how well these old turds frag, i.e if you do actually manage to sell much from them. Without the engine running properly it won't make much to sell (the engine I mean). It could be more than just a sensor though.

the wheels are reasonably sought after and would go for £200+ probably. it's a winner for me.

Time to join a detailing forum! :)
That's very very cool, best of luck with the engine.
