E39 boot switch removal

does anyone know how to remove the E39 saloon boot open switch? mine now has ceased to work, but still opens with key fob/key/interior switch so it seems its only the boot switch...but how to remove the bloody thing to change it, i removed the carpet and cover but seems it is not accessable from there??!!!

Are you talking about the rubber "pad" exterior handle ?
If so, you can't get to it from inside, but it has to be pried (sp?) out from the outside. Mine hade been been pushed into the boot by over-forceful use by a previous owner (my father in law...
) and that makes it A) difficult to remove, but possible the way I describe, and B) that the pad fails to make contact with the switch, meaning it doesn´t work.
I removed it, and refitted with a dab of glue and sorted !
