Hi all,

I have been advised to change my swirl flaps because they seem to break away and fall into the engine 8O

Some of you will know what I am on about and some of you won't have a scooby doo.

Does anyone know of a place I can get this done?

I heard you can buy the replacement swirl flaps for £75 from somewhere.

There's a place which charges £200 drive in and out apparently? PMW?

They can go any time (swirl flaps) but usually after 100k...I have another 35k to go but wanting to do them ASAP because I don't want to risk it!

Any help is much appreciated.

Bloody hell, a reason to get a X5. Why so? I would get at least three opinions on this before I rested easy. Its easy enough to remove the intake and have a gander yourself.

Because if it doesnt have parts 9 and 11 in this link,

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=11&fg=40

it doesnt have flaps. They are the vacuum control parts for the flap system and are located under the inlet but if you have a feel around the inlet you can see if they are there or not.

you can see the actuator under the manifold its on the lower inlet ports, fit the plugs you can get from ebay as its only for idle emissions. they open at about 1.5k rpm i think.

I spoke to PMW and they advised me that X5's don't have swirl flaps when they specialise in replacing these.
