Since buying my E36 the clutch pedal has always sat much higher than the brake and throttle.Id guess it was approx 2in higher and was very noticable although I just got used to it.
Anyway today ive done an M20 flywheel/clutch conversion to it.
Came to bleed it up tonight and the clutch pedal was on the floor,no surprises there I suppose.Thing is there was no sping action in the pedal at all, lift it up and it thudded to the top, push it down and it would thud down
Anyway the pedal had to be lifted and pumped by hand to get some pressure through it which eventually it did.
Clutch pedal feel is now normal again and feels as it should but the pedal still sits 2in higher than the others.
Would this indicate the master cylinder is gone/going?
As said it bled up fine and doesnt lose pressure etc.

something not right but i not know. i've got the same combo in my 328 and the clutch pedal sits in line, like it did before.

The big difference is its mega light now compared the stock setup which is quite a heavy pedal

Yes mines much lighter with the M20 one too.
Pedal height always been present.
Spoke to Monkey tonight and he said he had this problem on a 36 few years ago.
His had been bodged before using an exhaust rubber which he discovered when it fell out :D
Im wondering if maybe at some point the M/C has been changed and the return spring incorrectly refitted pulling it higher up??(never looked so not sure of the set up on the pedal).
