Hi All,

I have just changed the regulator on the drivers side window of my e46... However, I have a problem, as the window goes up it seems to come across areas of the channel where there is resistance and not as smooth/fast as the other windows. In these places you can here that the motor is struggling to get the window up!

Q: Do you guys have any tips on how to improve the line up of the channel of the glass? or how to adjust it once your at this stage.

I have a niggling feeling that the car has been in an accident before i bought it and thats why the channel isn't quite right... you can get replacement doors not made by bmw right?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Jason

ps. i did try loosening the nuts holding the regulator, move the glass up and down and then retighten. It didn't get better but some adjusting definitely made it worse so i left it as good as i could get it for now.

If you haven't already done it, try some silicone spray down the rubber channels. Dry rubber can have a similar effect.

Sound like a good, simple idea - nice one mate i'll give it a go. That wont damage/wear the rubber will it?

Update! - Turns out the motor had been over worked when i was replacing the regulator, after i had left it for a day it was fine and the glass went up and down smoothly!
