To do it properly the tank needs to come out so that means exhaust, heat sheilds and prop so the labour time is what makes it expensive. The pipes dont cost much. Reckon on about 4hrs labour.
At the BMW dealer i work at its £50 ph+VAT for cars over ten years old.

What pipes did you use?Simon13 wrote:you don't have to drop the tank, i did mine by undoing the straps and this drops the tank enough for you to have access.
You used BMW pipes?maxfield wrote:Agree with Simon. I did some once, took me an hour, quite an easy job.
Made it a lot easier using the pipes from BMW too.
So you bent them in exactly the same shape as the originals and routed them in the exact same place and used all the mounting clips?
E38/E39 ones are worse still! Not only does the tank and associated crap have to come out, so does the rear axel!

no i used copper its an e36, i've seen them routed across the exhaust cross member.
Theres only 1 or 2 clipes each side, copper bends nice and easy too! My 328 has no traction so i don't know if that helps

If it has ASC there will be two front to rear pipes.Simon13 wrote:no i used copper its an e36, i've seen them routed across the exhaust cross member.
