I need more power in my e34 535i converted touring and was thinking of picking up an old dog of a e32 750i and transplanting the engine and anything else needed into mine.

The biggest problem i can think of is the gearbox. I have read in places that the m30b35 manual gearbox bolts on without hastle does anyone know if that is true as i already have that gearbox fitted in mine,so would save some agro.

I also have the m30b35 wiring loom etc already fitted as its had a previous engine change from a v8 to the m30 3.5. does anyone know if the m30 loom would plug and play or would i be looking at transfering all the loom over from the v12?

And finaly engine mounts? any ideas?

any info you have on this conversion will be much appreciated, as i dont want to put another V8 in I want V12 power!!

Sorry for all the questions :D

The only manual box for a v12 is the one from an 850csi 2 to 2.5k used

Yeah might have to go back to a V8, :D the proper 4 litre one this time

M5 power would be nice also, will have to see i think. The V12 sounds like it will be a bitch to fit as it would need custom manifolds etc but i will look into it further as i have read the m30 gearbox can be made to fit somehow :D

Cheers for that it seems like the only thread on a v12 e34 but at least its a good one.

Im going for it anyway the m30 gearbox will fit with some fabrication or not and the 750i engine mount is also suitable for use along with the stock exhaust manifolds so should go well and shouldnt take to long to complete.. now just got to find a cheapo 750i spares or repair as i need the whole loom as im not into mix and matching in that department :D

Think i will also need to buy a e30 again whilst the touring is off the road, will more than likely be a dog of a 316i should be a laugh :D

why did you remover the 3.0 V8 for an M30 ? :?

the m30 will not work unless you make a custom bell housing, then you need to account for a flywheel and clutch.

i have seen various set ups over the years, and some mighty intersting ones.

the M30 loom will no work eitherem you have to use the v12 set up, and over come the fly by wire TB's. failng that option of using m20 looms and ecu's with the correct TB's is one you can look into. but you'll have to use air flow meters and thats not good, unless you piggy back the ECU and go for a custom MAF set up

it all cost money, and i doubt you want to spend much

i didnt convert it to m30 myself it was done years ago after the 3litre V8 killing itself on 2 occasions :D i think the then owner just had enough as he had already paid out 2.5k on repairing the V8.

Its quite a nice conversion as it is because there wernt a 535i touring and it suites it well and its got the lsd and manual box from the sport also, i just need some more power.

the plan would be to get a whole 750i doner car so i have everything needed to keep the costs down, its just the gearbox and fly by wire issues. Other than that it would meen turbocharging the m30..maybe that would be the best route for power but also expensive :D

E32's and E34 are basicly the same thing so i cant see it being that hard to convert an E34 to V12 power.

Manual gearbox is the problem though.

Ive just signed up on bimmerforums to try andfind some more info as it seems a more common conversion out there :D As has been said thow its the damn gearbox thats the problem because you wouldnt want to go through it all then end up with the auto box!

Ive been looking into supercharging the m30 instead of turbocharging if i end up keeping it as it could work out more economical to diy fit one and they seem to get good results on the m30 on low boost so we will see :D
