Just won this off ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0628858279
Looking forward to it as I've had a 518 in the past and (due to the little engine) they're pretty nippy and I think it's a good price !
Anyway, one query tho - The steering box needs a little attention as you can only get full lock on one side, but this doesn't affect driving.
What do you think, not heard of this as a common issue - is this bad?
Thanks, Sean

Looks good for the price. I think the breakers yard near me has a E34 in that colour.
It says the cam belt was changed. Must mean its an M40. The M43 was introduced in that year.

Looks a good buy for 350 but would be nice to have a 2.5 in a heavy E34. At least then you were nearly kitted up for the M50 - E30 conversion
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Hi jmc330i - thanks for that
Got the car today and the issue is the steering lock to the left
It's fine to the right and there's no screech when it's on full lock - it's just when you turn it to full lock on the left it's not great. Looks like the steering box has been replaced in the past and whoever fitted it has done a bodge job as the airbag light is on and there's a horn button next to the steering wheel and the one on the wheel doesn't work

Don't think that's a bad looking car for the money,
Not come across this issue with mine, the only thing I can say is they have a lot of steering joints across the underside of the engine, check them out,

That's what I was thinking - do you have to align it up?jonny323i wrote:if the box has been replaced maybe it wasnt central when reattached
