I did a set on a 54 plate 525d, there's 2 different sizes of pad and if it has brought the warning light on the dash then it needs to be plugged in to re-set that.

The fluid reservoir is under the drivers side scuttle panel/pollen filter.

There is supposed to be a way of re-setting it through the dash but neither me or the cars owner could get that to work, lucky for me a friend does mobile diagnostics and is partial to a crate of stella.

It took me ages to type this, a couple of things kept distracting me winkeye

Thanx mate, the owner is confident he can reset it himself, if he does I'll let you know how :)

I can't imagine what is distracting you ;)

What tools did you use?

No silly tools to wind the calipers in etc?

Many thanx

I've got a proper calliper wind-back tool, a big pair of pipe grips or even a G clamp with an old pad would do the trick though, the nuts and bolts of it are just normal, you will need a 7mm allan key though.

Do the pistons need winding back or do they just slide back like E30's?

Many thanx again :)

the pistons just slide but if your want the brake wear system to work you have to replace the wear sensor. no need to connect to diagnostics to reset warning it can be done through the dash
