It was actually pretty clean, I would definately swap it for my E30 if I could have insured it. :(

Check how much it would cost you. E28 528i is the same as an e30 320i for me. Us e28 drivers are a sensible, responsible bunch, unlike you e30 hooligans, which is reflected in our insurance premiums!! winkeye winkeye

How old are you though, I think that might be the main reflection  ?

IF I ever get bored of my E30 I'll be going for an M535i next 8)

I'm in my (very) late twenties, but there's a guy on one of the 5 series forums who's about 17 or 18 and busy restoring 2(!) E28s. I think they're a 520 and a 528. I'll ask him what they're costing to insure. I think the 520's on the road at present.

Yeah, but what I'm getting at is that, all other things being equal, you'll get a bigger engine insured for the same money on an E28 than an E30. Or so it seems in my case anyway... :D

E28 520i was my second BMW.
I could not afford a 4 door E30 at the time and E28's were very cheap by comparison.
Kept it 6 years and wept when it was collected by it's new owner!
Only plus to selling was that it freed up garage space for the Daimler V8....

That's a lot of miles. :?

There's a site called mye28.com that's probably the best source of info on them on the web. Probably 95% of the contributors are US based. They're very into their datasets and stuff like that over there, and have worked out that the average mileage of an E28 owned by one of the site members is 214k. Nobody seems to mind high mileage cars at all over there. Must be the drier climate... :)
