being honest I'm struggling to understand what you have done and not done..
have you renewed the fuel filter? if so did you fill the new one up with diesel? was there fuel coming out the feed pipe to the filter but none coming out between the filter and pump? if so it may need bled up.

depends on how much fuel is in it. if there's not a lot stick £20 worth in and try it. when you fit the new filter fill it with diesel before fitting. helps get the fuel in.
other thing to try as well is to loosen one of the injectors while your turning it over that way its allowing the air to escape and fuel to come up you should see the diesel coming out all going well once it starts tighten the injector back up.
is there a manual pump on the top of the filter housing on these to get the fuel up?

when I broke open the fuel system on the wife's vectra diesel I just opened the pipe on top of the injector to get the fuel through.

Some good advice from James, but your best trying a 5 Series forum like http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/
I recently sold my E34 TDS and there's a few owners on there so they should be able to sort you out
