non vanos 1991 sport, think the cat is dead and needs a new exhaust so i am thinking stainless downpipe back and binning the cat, has anyone done this? as i know it can somtimes have a bad effect on the car, also how would this affect fuel consumption?
thanks.
is it worth doing de-cat on a m50 525i

Pre 93 there is no requirement for a CAT as far as the MoT regulations are concerned...
So you are free to choose the exhaust config that suits you and the car best.

I have not used a cat on my M50 conversion into an '88 touring.
My system is a Fritz manifold
linked to a standard 325 centre/rear section.
Seems to work OK,although it could be a litle rich.
