i wanted to get a present for my brother, he currently has a e46 330ci, the only thing that he is missing is the sat/tv unit.

i wanted to get him one but i didnt know whether to get a orignal bmw one as im not sure on how much it will cost, i dont mind doing the work myself but im not that skilled :o:

or get an aftermarket one from ebay, which would be cheaper but im not sure of the sound quality.

im looking at spending about £300ish

any advice?

Its a pain and an expense to retrofit the satnat/TV. You'd be better off getting a double DIN and buying a 3rd party stereo with TV.

thanks for the reply, i found some companies on fleebay that will fit it for around £1000, which is way out of my budget, so will probably get a single din unit with satnav, can anyone recommend one for around £400-£500 pounds?

Why not buy him a top of the range TomTom? They're way better than the in console stuff, and you can use them in any car.

Fitting the OEM sat nav is nice and easy - but forget about doing it for £300!!

Yeah I did it before - its plug and play once you have the retrofit loom.

This is my installation guide - http://www.bmw-driver.net/SatNav_1.asp

You can pick up the parts cheap-ish on eBay, but £300 probably wouldn't even cover the BM54 radio tuner you need, let alone screen and monitor!

If you do need to know anything, let me know.
