hi all
i have a e36 318ti now (rip e30 325sp)
thinking of putting sum cams in it but struggling to find any1 that has done this and which cam is better/worse. i have always found that a 285 ish duration cam offers the best compromise between drivablity on a day-2-day basis and performance, well in other engines i have put cams in.

what do u guys and girls think ??

i have catcams, expensive but good. 285 is pretty wild in a 4v engine, I have 260/10.4 but ramps up pretty steeply and has a 225 (approox) duration at >1mm lift.

You can check this link to Colombo Bariani if they have performance cams to your engine?

High CR, forged pistons, quite a bit of work to the cyl head, cams, bigger tb, megasquirt and no AFM, exh manifold, that's about it really. Yeah made 200bhp at the fw on paul's rollers in feb i think.

hi tim
interesting set up you have there. assuming that you are running a different crank to achieve the displacement ? also whats different about ur exhaust manifold, standed is a 4-2-1 or not on the e30's ?? do u have a graph i am curious about what the torque curve looks like ?

there's quite a bit of detail about mine in other old threads if you dig around. I'll prob do another thread at some pt! I run an 88mm crank.
Here's a r/r curve, torque curve is ace, pretty impressive for a 2.1 4v, reckon its near enough the peer of a good standard (195) m3 s14 engine. you can see from the curve that there's a lot more potential at the top with the correct setup (currently standard inlet, tame cams - no desire to get mroe power though, I just want to keep refining and improving the car in general at the mo). Needs quite a bit of finishing off still, intending to pull cyl 1 and take a goose as there's a ticking noise from there, plus hoping ant can spare some time at some pt to fix my dodgy idle.
