mate of mine has a e46 325 sport and today when his wife backed the car off his drive the bottom iner ball joint snapped causing the wheel to move back into the wing but no body damage as going real slow anyhow we changed the bottom arm and now when you go on full lock the steering jams and cant be straightend up unless the car is reversed . the tracking is out a little i think and steering wheel is offset a few degrees . anyone got any ideas as to what it can be the old arm had a green bmw sticker saying sports suspension fitted the new are is a patern part and we told the supplyer the car was a sport if a standard arm was supplied will this make any differance its almost like the rack is bent but it locks solid both directions.
thanks guys Paul
e46 sport stearing jams solid on full lock both ways

has on the odd occasion happened to my E46 to mate... no recently though... they have a common problem where the p/s pump fails.. the shafts snap internally and you have no power steering... maybe yours is on the way out ???

car was fine until bottom ball joint snapped wondering if we were supplied with a standard arm not a sport one i read somewhere they are differant it must be something to do with the arm or the rear bush as nothing else has been changed

ok guys car sorted the bottom arms ARE TOTALLY DIFFERANT to the non sport ones we got another bottom arm today but this 1 is for a sport wheel is now in the rite place car drives mint again so if anyone has sport suspension on a e46 you NEED sport bottom arms if you replace them and they are about £60 each more expensive than the standard ones.
