God, you can get some serious twin pipe, now for not very much money.

Anyone got any advise on these beasts. Especially on the e34, I understand there are two engines. The e34 surely being cheaper to insure on a classic policy?. But rarity comes into it?.

The e39's are really coming down in price.

I test drove a 3 last weekend with a mate who is trying to find a good one.
His budget is around the 8k mark, the first 2 for that price were complete dogs and didnt even bother to drive them. One owner said 'you must listen to it first' proceeded to start the engine and from cold try and bounce it off the rev limiter, que us walking away!

2 drove well had about 100k miles on the clock but hadnt been looked after and needed alot of work. The last one we saw was from a trader, car was almost perfect, drove beatifully no real issues apart from needing 2 tyres which he agreed to throw into the price. Struck a deal and mate wanted to sleep on it. Woke up the next morning deciding he didnt like black with tinted windows and want blue instead

e34 m5s are great cars. But they are expensive to maintain properly. There are loads of dogs on the market, probably 75 percent of them are dogs to be honest.

The e34 is quick, but not quick enough to scare you, tbh a type r civic wouldnt be that far behind one. I had an e39 m5 for a couple of days not long ago and the performance is on another level.
