Anyone removed a steering lock assembly on a e34? dunno if the engine size makes any difference, but I have a 535. Just not too sure how to get out the shear bolt on it? Do I have to take the instrument cluster out?
thanks.

if its just the lock you need to remove . i think you can remove it in the same way as an e30 by turning the key to position 1 and pushing a small drill bit in the hole beside the lock to release it then pull the lock out . to remove the shear bolts use a punch or chisel and hit the head of the bolt around until its loose .

or use a hacksaw blade and cut a groove into the bolt when its fairly deep get a screwdriver in there
