Right my igntion barrel on my e34 535 (1996 m30) thought it would fuck up yesterday, so I need a new one. It doesnt turn all the way when the key is in there, you can push it forward, to unlock the steering, but soon as u let go the key springs back, and the steering locks. It doesnt go far enough for the ignition/instrument lights to come on. Where do I go from here? Will the new barrel come with a new key, and thats that (doors can be opened from key fob) or is there more to be done? The keys arent coded are they? Also I heard from someone I can use old keys by giving the bmw dealer a code from my keys, and they get one which works with them?
Also, I found a site, which is an online parts catalogue, but cant find the part anywhere? any help?

If it's the same as an E30. you need to turn the ignition key to the accessory position before you put the pin in.theweapon wrote:theres a pinhole next to where u put key in. Ive put pins in etc, n moved them about, but no luck. anyone know whats gotto be done? Im stuck!!!
