could anyone tell me where to get split stripes for the side line of an e34 seem to be like hens teeth to find :?

indeed they are hens teeth... chris rossiter no longer sells them because Aachen have stopped making them... your best bet is to find a decent picture of them and get them reproduced by someone who works with vynal(i have a friend who is doing mine)
