I liked the original but took a while to get used to it. Now it makes the E46 look very bland and old. The E90 is a great car.

I think I prefer the orginal, I'm with Andy, it's taken me ages for it to grow on me. Still not pretty though. I guess the days of really cool looking cars are gone?
Not in E30s any more

What he said. The E30 and BMW's of the past were sharp and defined shapes. That just looks like the designer was hammered drunk.GrindCulture wrote:I think I prefer the orginal, I'm with Andy, it's taken me ages for it to grow on me. Still not pretty though. That stupid wobbly bonnet line and the dent behind the roundel like a lampost fell on it. Urm its supposed to be a power bulge. Hate to say this but the new Merc C-class is a far far better looking car.

Much better, the four door has always been a dog especially the rear lights. imho the only time bmw made vague dull designs was the e46, e39 era. The e90 and e60 have really grown on me. Okay the c class does look better though...

I hate em. Too fat, too fussy and too overdesigned. For me an E46 is a far better looking car. I realise they had to make them bigger to get room underneath the 3 series for the one series, but I still don't like the look.

Agreed, they are simply stunning for a 3 box saloon IMO, the detailing is superb.Eddie25 wrote: the new Merc C-class is a far far better looking car.
E90? Still a bit fussy if you ask me.

The new bonnet's nasty - overall I'd say it's maybe slightly improved.
Much like the E60 though, I think they look much better in the metal.

The C Class does look very good indeed. And the new A4 looks awful, a bland turgid cop-out. Styling is a subjective thing and it's the driving experience that matters. The E90 is a superb driving car and a 325d Touring with a few choice extras is all the car you need really.
The Alfa 159 looks superb, but they're ditchwater dull to drive, just an Italian Mondeo.

The biggest improvement is the rear lights. Second is the lower front bumper. There is no doubt that the current C Class is the better looking car (especially in C63 AMG form!!!). The interior of the 3-series is nicer though, mainly due to the tatty pop out satnav screen in the Merc.

The current C class is bold on the inside but minging on the inside. The new A4 is admittedly a bit bland in se form but looks pretty smart as an s line and has a much nicer interior, better to drive than the merc imo too, although the only c class ive driven was a C200 diseasel. The e90 has them licked for that though.

I like the new C class, as pictured above. Drives lovely as well. Interior was the same as the last one really. Pretty bland in half leather format. I have only driven the 1.8 BUT in AMG spec/look. Looks great but is criminally slow hooked up to an autobox. Quite a jerky box on full beans as well.

Another fan of the C Class even the base models look good which to me is a sure sign of good car design, better build, quality, feel, everything is much improved inside and out over previous C Classes actually my most favorite car this year.
That Alpina B3 is a violation hate everything about it apart from the colour back to back the standard M3 is far nicer car to drive around brands hatch consistantly faster per lap than the B3 all evening, saying that the older E46 CSL still wipes the floor with both in every possible dimension (excluding smg gearbox at slow speeds too jerky)
Out of all 3 it would have to be AMG C Class followed by E46 CSL in my pathetic opinion.
