I was watching them on ebay I think Jon if they are the same ones... but having spent quite a lot those 42s popped up with decent Michelin rubber for £250 so were hard to pass up !

I'v been looking at getting one of these for a while now.have you got any tips on what to look out for?

Also,a bit of a cheeky one...How much did that cost and did you do any restoration?

Main thing is rust with these cars, particulary front wings, floorpan, rear axle hanger areas, jacking points, sills etc. See this thread for a car that looks shiny but is quite badly rusty.
http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f ... ing+advice

Mechanically same as any old BMW, M30 is strong if looked after and look out for shagged bushes, shagged drivetrain components etc. Did I mention rust.

Mine is good in pictures but certainly not perfect, has a few dents and scratches and had several panels repainted on the cheap so I will shell out for a good quality glass out respray some time, but it is rust free. I will never get my money back though as they do not fetch alot.
1-2k gets you an ok car 3-4 gets a mint sub 100k car. But there are alot of crap ones out there. If you want an E28 talk to Pacerpete who had a nice 528i to sell (if he still has it).

How did i know rust would be a problem :(

Im a member on bmw5 and saw that thread.i would be after a minter 535i rather than have the joys of restoring one.I noticed on ebay that there arent too many bits to be found for these motors (of course) and was wondering if you have any problems sourcing parts? Or are they that good that you dont need them? winkeye

I have a no trouble for anything I have needed, but I have not needed much. But I have been surprised at the number of odd parts that are still available tbh.

I'll come down to Ace soon!

Job is okay, really busy with courses at the moment (CIMA).

Got rid of the Civic after I blew the engine, bought a 200SX.....did the usual to it, 290bhp, caged etc etc.

Took it to the 'Ring, awesome.

Then stacked it a few miles from home......gutted. Broke Demlots glasses!!

That was £10k+ down the drain, TPFT insured. D'oh.
