trying to tempt my dad away from volvos winkeye
car is to be used as a 2nd car so mpg not really an issue

must look tidy to keep my mum happy

under 1500 mark

ideally something big but has to come with a bit of grunt :D

open to suggestions and experiences

A nice E34 5 series with a suitable engine would be in that budget.

540i's can be had at that price, but its not going to last long before you are footing big bills. :( I still would be tempted by a 540 touring, in fact I am.

My E34 525i engine donor cost £350...do check for leaky fuel tanks and strange handling from the back end,though.

Mid 90s-on Jaguars are stunning value at the moment; I saw a '95 M-reg 3.2 Sport in BRG with cream leather recently for £650 ono!
