can a M50 fit in a e28

Cant imagine it any more difficult than an E30.

Theres more room in an e28 than an e30 for the m30 lump and if you used an e34 cross member and front struts it could be easier

E28 535i came with a 3.5 I think.

It must do. much of the e28 was carried over to the e34 so I reckon it would be an easier fit that an e30.

It's been done many, many times in Germany. Waste of time really when you already have a 3.5. The 4 litre M60 V8 is a much more worthy conversion - plenty of room for bits and the sump clears the crossmember.

unless you want the newer twim cam goodness in there. being a bigger car it does enjoy the 3.5 m30 more.
if you get the m50 from a facelift e34 525i then all you really should need to worry about is the loom connector plug.
dont know about engine mounts or prop but i guess it wont be much of an issue.
