I've always fancied a 7 series and with it running on gas I'd say well worth £2k

Is the conversion certified though? I understand a lot of insurance companies run a mile if not, so what you save on fuel you end up spending on insurance (and the higher purchase price over a non-converted car). How long before they whack a load of duty on gas as well?

I don't think it's very cheap for an e38 either, have a look on ebay, people just can't get rid.

Sorry to be a bit of a nay-sayer, just trying to give an idea of the drawbacks of a motor like this.

Also looks a bit unatractive with the chrome.

A facelift one is the best.

The contour front seats cost more new then the whole car is now. :P

Drawbacks? What drawbacks?
Plenty of insurers will cover LPG conversions - with and without certification - mostly for very little, if any, increase in premium. Ask anyone who has done a DIY installation - certification is not the be-all-and-end-all, there are plenty of installs that have been done by supposed experts that wouldn't pass certification if taken to another installer.
There's far too much mis-information and too many scare-stories about LPG. :( Mind, I suppose those of us who have had the balls to go for it are the winners because if too many people convert then the oil companies probably will get wise and start hiking the price.

'Round here, LPG is still 49.9p/ltr and the most I've ever paid is 60p. Over 15k miles, my 320i Touring has cost me 10.2p/mile in fuel. With the current price of petrol (117.9p/ltr) it would be fractionally less than 20p/mile.
Pay a little extra for insurance, or cut fuel bills virtually in half? I know which I'd rather. :D

Oh, and in the time I've had my LPG system, petrol has gone-up over 20p/ltr and my local supply of LPG has increased 10p/ltr.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

With your V8 it might make sense to bite the bullet and get a proper sequential system installed by someone who knows what they're doing. Or steal one from a breaker, there MUST be some 7 series being broken somewhere with that conversion!
