e34 EML light on

just came on and now is constantly on all the time! even with no keys locked up is this normal? or does it soumd like a clocks fault? as engine runnung fine and never knew it had a bulb in before this as the cars a 91 and thought eml was not yet active at this age? should i take the bulb out or get on a diagnostic? car is 525i sport

i'm sure you would know if the vehical was in limp mode, possible cluster fault but i would not just take the bulb out. Disconect the battery and make sure all the modules and relays are seated correctly would be a start. Thanks
