I really can't be bothered to waste any of my time on this, i have better things to do unlike others.

I am just shocked grown men can act like you are, never come across anyone like a certain few people on here, i cannot comprehend their mentality, lack of respect, consideration and lack of intellect, its just rather sad and depressing.

I bet you few were involved in the london riots just for a laugh and have not yet been caught, typical non educated, living off my tax money, jobless, hopeless, worthless pieces of crap i wouldn't wipe my shoes on,.

I was in a new M3 convertible last night - its not a car for a 26 year old. Too much power, too expensive to insure and I think he is getting 15mpg as well. It just doesnt make sense. IMO

Who on earth spends 45K on a car unless it is a surefire investment?

Show me a £45K car you can use every day that WON'T depreciate and will actually appreciate

doesnt mean you are driving a death trap, an MOT is routine but by no means a certificate of road worthiness for 365 days PA

what a silly thread !
a guy has 45-50k to throw away on a car and can't decide what to spend it on ? so he seeks advice through a skint mate who might ask on a forum full of people that mostly own 2 grand cars?

he's obviously earnt his 45k through illegal/immoral earnings or inheritance ?

anyone who i know that is a petrol head with a spare 50k to spend on a motor knows exactly what they want !!

This got quite a good topic in the end didn't it! Turns out the 26 year old multi trillionaire wanted an old opel chevette don't you know? Found one in the family for 22 years and it was a keggy hand drive... had to get rid of the porsche to get it but it will restore up really well. It won't be a death trap though - because its his... if it were yours it will be the cheapest nastiest rotbox death trap that the council chucked in free when you gained that flat next door to the kiddy toucher one side and the medieval fish wife on the other. But its 3rd floor overlooking the cemetery of prisoners and the local sewage plant, so it had its perks....

Come on man i'm not a millionaire but i own 3 cars and have a nice house, mrs and son but i ain't richard branson. I just get by, like the rest of us... The zone isn't a gloating forum. You would fit in better on mbclub.co.uk (they're all stupidly rich merc owners that i couldn't get on with because i was an utter tramp compared to their toff waffle)
I'll check with the manager

This thread is hilarious! I'm guessing the OP is either a girl or ghey. FFS who goes shopping for a car. The lawyer should be telling the dealer what he wants and package it up to maximize the tax grab.

He doesn't drive fast, will never use either car to anywhere near its potential, he drives from work to Office, Office to Court and occasionally into london and Bristol (from Swindon)

I can't be much help as both are fantastic cars in their own right, M3 is extrememly quick and comfy, pretty much more power than you can actually use on the road, then the Cayman is a great handling car, very forgiving.

Help...... (as i will probably be going car shopping with him)
Out of a E92 M3 and a Cayman i would have the M3. Though the Cayman is probably the better handling roadcar but the M3 has the far better engine and be more fun. The M3 i think would be more of a handful if you turn off DSC though i got no idea what a mid-engined sports car like on the limit. Might be more twitchy than a front-engined-rear wheel-drive road car.

Though if he doesnt like driving it makes me ask what is the point in buying one of these cars unless he just wanted to pose about or keep up with someone?

PS a Porsche 993 Turbo would be quite nice for the money.......though they are getting on a bit

Pony, thanks for some constructive feedback. I am of the same opinion on the M3, he wants it basically to show off, he does very few miles, he currently has a 54 plate 320 convertible and wants something a lot newer and something to show off since his promotion.

That information on the M3 and Cayman is not hard to find and as i have not driven the E92 M3 or Cayman myself it is from reading a few issues of Autocar over the years you tend to pick things up. The E46 M3 which was a rival for the Cayman when the Cayman was launched is of similar opinion. Though Autocar say Cayman has better steering feel like most Porsches do compared to BMWs.

Cayman reckoned to be one of the best handling Porsche of all-time and could have the potential to be faster than a 911 if only they fitted a limited-slip differential around the Nurburgring.

The Porsche marketing department have not allowed it though.

Yeah porsche aren't going to factory fit an LSD to a Cayman as it would out perform a 911 which is their mainstay business.

I ready Autocar and Autoexpress too, just didn't know if anyone on here had driven or owned either of the mentioned cars.

They have been fitting LSD's as an option since 2009

If he wants to pose then he should go buy a chelsea tractor like all the other cocks

The notion that a partner in a law firm doesn't have his own opinion is utterly laughable.

Maybe he just sweeps up and makes the tea, 'partner' could mean he has shares in the stationary :)

Some pretty childish stuff going on here.

Think it would have been a lot better if the thread was titled "Best car for 45-50k" and had nothing to do with a mate!

If I had 50k to blow I would buy a 993 Turbo.....
