Not that I am trying to stir this up but I'm positive my E46 M3 SMG stopped accelerating at 155mph INDICATED on the speedo. Why in any case would BMW have a slightly higher limit on M cars than standard production models?
I thought the 155mph was a voluntary agreement for the UK market?
Why are BMWs restricted to 155mph

beemerlad my friend is into fto's, his last one was an import whichhad a limiter on which he says he was able to break it as such, he kept pushing it and it kind of forced it not to work. was apparently more fun to drive after that!E30BeemerLad wrote:155mph limiter, if only

I'm normally with you on the 'rice; topic Rosco but I admit to liking the look (and performance) of the new Skyline, should be an amazing car. Thing is though, at appx £60k wouldnt you just buy a M5/M3/911/RS6 etc?Rosc0PColtrane wrote:FTO? Fun??? eh?

With the times the Skyline's putting down on the 'Ring it will certainly be a winner!
Although if I had 60k to spend on a car, I would build an E30 M3 with a veryyyyyyyy big spec list!

The Speed restriction is still in place so to speak.
Also BMW under quote there figures.
I have been in a totally standard E46 M3 which has registered
164 by the UK Police Radar detectors (On an airfield I hasten to add)
Can't wait for the M3 4dr, Touring, CSL and GTR

I think its to do with year of production, BMW are infamous for changing computer software setups under the radar. I know would do 160+ with no problem given a bit of room, that was an 02 car. All the reports I've read, and I've read a lot, say the soft limit is around 163.zimmerbimmer1 wrote:I wil investigate this further to find out why some cars will only do 155 and some upto 165
