That looks like the late Tim Busby's UFO replica. It was built by Chris Randall from a 3.0CS Auto, and Tim bought it and did the full replica but with oddball bits like Alpina centrelock rims and slide throttle injection. I don't know where it is now but it was in need of a good body job as Tim drove it good and hard, bless him. Chris bought it back, sold it again and now has a real one.
I had a CSL road car a few years back (2002-3).
Tim busbys car is/was a replica of the car owned by my mate Alex Elliott. TBH it was not a great replica but i was told it was based on an original Group 2 chassis?

The 2 original Luigi racing UFO cars are both stored in a lock up in the UK ( i saw them last weekend) Not sure who owns the other one though.

How very sad. I saw these cars racing in 1977 at Silverstone along with the XJ12C. Now they're gathering dust in a lock up, how tragic. Works cars should be used properly, not treated like that.
Tim's car was built by Chris R from a road car although he raced it for quite a long time. It certainly isn't a Group 2 car of any sort. It changed hands for about £20'000 not long after Tim passed away along with a load of spares. The guy handling the sale was a racing bloke I knew from years back - I thought about buying the car for about 10 seconds and dismissed the idea.

PS, you have a very good memory! IIRC the one my mate owns came 2nd in that race and did quite well at le mans

Was this the car that dropped a valve at Silverstone a couple of years ago? Alex was there with the car and Jeremy Walton was driving it.
There are still various works cars knocking about. A mate of mine has a 1983 Group A 528i (Eggenberger) which needs reshelling. After it was used as a race car it was painted Diamond black and used on the road - but it had no underseal or seam asealer and rotted out. I've had three works cars - two Minis; 618AOG, the first works Mini to finish a Monte, YBL355H(?) which was a recce car and an Escort SOO750R which Ford registered as a 1600 Sport! The first one is now in Japan, the second was smashed up and reshelled years ago and it's due to be rebuilt again but as a period circuit racer (Handley/Rhodes stylee) and the Escort has been under resto for the last 10 years. Gotta keep this old shit going!
Considering what this stuff is worth now, I should have hung onto it. Never mind. :x :D "Better to have had and sold than to never have had at all"

Yep, thats the one! I was there that day, alex was none too pleased while we were trailering it home!

There are still plenty of original works cars avaliable for those who have the folding.

Race cars converted to road cars - its not even worth the hastle! Alex converted an M3 DTM to road spec once and it cost the owner mega £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£ and lasted about 5 miles before a rebuild

Munich Legends sold this one for £80k

It was Hans Stucks company car!

Saw it in the showroom and it was glorious.
