Tim busbys car is/was a replica of the car owned by my mate Alex Elliott. TBH it was not a great replica but i was told it was based on an original Group 2 chassis?Andyboy wrote:That looks like the late Tim Busby's UFO replica. It was built by Chris Randall from a 3.0CS Auto, and Tim bought it and did the full replica but with oddball bits like Alpina centrelock rims and slide throttle injection. I don't know where it is now but it was in need of a good body job as Tim drove it good and hard, bless him. Chris bought it back, sold it again and now has a real one.m3ben05 wrote:
Somewhere i have an onboard vid of this car (owned by a good mate) -
I had a CSL road car a few years back (2002-3).
How very sad. I saw these cars racing in 1977 at Silverstone along with the XJ12C. Now they're gathering dust in a lock up, how tragic. Works cars should be used properly, not treated like that.m3ben05 wrote:The 2 original Luigi racing UFO cars are both stored in a lock up in the UK ( i saw them last weekend) Not sure who owns the other one though.

You old goat!!Andyboy wrote:Was this the car that dropped a valve at Silverstone a couple of years ago? Alex was there with the car and Jeremy Walton was driving it.
There are still various works cars knocking about. A mate of mine has a 1983 Group A 528i (Eggenberger) which needs reshelling. After it was used as a race car it was painted Diamond black and used on the road - but it had no underseal or seam asealer and rotted out. I've had three works cars - two Minis; 618AOG, the first works Mini to finish a Monte, YBL355H(?) which was a recce car and an Escort SOO750R which Ford registered as a 1600 Sport! The first one is now in Japan, the second was smashed up and reshelled years ago and it's due to be rebuilt again but as a period circuit racer (Handley/Rhodes stylee) and the Escort has been under resto for the last 10 years. Gotta keep this old shit going!
Considering what this stuff is worth now, I should have hung onto it. Never mind.![]()
