The 528i is immaculate, with dogleg box, new Bilstein sports on all 4 corners and a new 6 branch and the same s/s system as the M5, leather pearl beige interior might fetch £6k?

I will be going to Gaydon in the 528i this year, might see you all there? 8)
HOLY SH*T!!

I bought my (mint, dead standard, lots of extras, black) 528i for... well I say bought.... I gave the guy an ounce of weed for it!

Should have kept the bloody thing! It got nicked, I was uninsured, got it back, trashed. I sold it for £50 :(

(edit>hmm, no i didnt, I swapped it for a knackered 325i which I killed then sold for £50)

Thanks for the web site information. Oh yes, thanks for the offer of the right bollock, it will match the left one that i was offered earlier.

Bedford half day is all you need, the track is 3.6 miles long but book some instruction for £30, worth every penny. The next Half day is on 25th August 2007 go to www.easytrack.co.uk, the half day will cost you £109 winkeye , you won't regret it.

I am bidding on Flea bay for a set of classic Corbeau seats as we speak.
Thanks for the info bud...Me and my brother have both been thinking about it, so we'll definately be looking into it.

Your 5's look superb, the 528i does bring back some memories, but your m5 is just awesome 8)

Thanks

Ah yes, but who else uses an M5 on the track, and there's all that power.

I know what you're saying but as i say it's the best place for me and my M5

The car was made to perform, not be locked up and 'preserved' in some climate controlled museum, banning people from touching incase the oils from their fingers oxidise the paint.

Track is the bets place for it. So long as the maintenance is up to it.

I didnt say lock it up and preseve it, i said restore it! It would be better to use on the road and not ware it out or bend it spectaculary on the track. No one ever wants a car thats been used and abused on the track! Buy an old nail for that kind of stuff. Only 187 Rhd ones made so would be a crime to see another one killed of.

This is just my oppinion and its not my car but i wish it was cause it looks like a nice one,

Any more pic's?

 Bss325i I know you are right, if mine was like the one mentioned at "ching ching" Munich Legends dolphin with cloth, It has 28000 miles on the clock and has just changed hands for a ridiculous £16500

Mine looks good in the pictures but to bring it to show standard needs:

Two front wings
Rear slam panel
N/S rear quarter
Bonnet
Bootlid.

and obviously the paint work that goes with it. All that is fine(4k later) except it still has no service book, just rakes of receipts since i've owned it and there is no gettin away from the 186000 miles on the clock. Basically it will still only be worth £5-6 grand, so i intend to enjoy it instead.

I honestly believe it is more likely to get bent on the road  not the track, the enviroment is much safer than you think.

I don't have that many more digital pics of it, but will try to post a couple more. :D

Beautiful Car. Always had a soft spot for the E28 M5.

Am I right in saying that the body was an optinal extra?
The body kit shown is the one fitted standard on the M535i.

The car without the kit looked liked thsese below

You are absolutely right, it was a no cost option and one of personal choice.

Alot of people prefer the E28 M5 without the kit, personally i enjoy people thinking it is an M535i, until it disappears into the distance or through a set of S's at 90 MPH+ :o

If ever you think of owning one, make sure the timing chain has been replaced (could cost upto £3K  ,) spend as much money as you can on a very good one; there is no such thing as a bargain E28 M5 :(

That's always been a worry of owning any 'M' car the running costs.

I was looking at an E39 M5, but can't see me parting with mine. The problem is I can't afford to run both cars.

Hubble1990, running two everyday cars is expensive, E39 would not qualify for classic insurance :( My E28 costs me around 200 quid to insure through Aon, that includes cover for my 528i, they share the 5000 mile limit; these will go down further this year as they have passed the 20 year old critria.

I only tax them 6 months of the year which helps.

I was told If I do go for the E39M5 there's Three things I need to buy 1. A tow bar 2. a petrol tanker and 3. Shares in BP

Insurance group 20 $$$$

I'm quite pleased though I just had my renewal yesterday from £550 last year down to £360 and £100 excess. That's fully comp with Chauncer. :D :D

In my view the E28 M5 is the ultimate street sleeper.I remember seeing a brand new one in the showroom at the Stafford stealers,it must have been 1986/7 it was alpine white with the bodykit, just like yours...perhaps I should point out that I had just delivered my father so that he could collect his E28 520i after a service,we arrived on the forecourt in my Morris 1000 pickup, white front wings, one blue door, one yellow door and the rest in mottled rust....I was asked to park round the back!!

There is an piece in this weeks Autocar about buying an E39 M5, they try their best to put people off with the running costs and suggest a Monaro instead.

Thanks for that. Will look into it. As for the Monaro - Will give that a wide berth. No thanks, just don't like the look of them. Those bonnet scoops too :puke:
