First time i got pulled was when I was 18. Was in my iS tootling around town. Got the old hello hello as the Coppers went past. They gave me the look and you just know your going to get pulled. I'd had the car just over an hour. Some kind of record ??
Next time (apart from heading backwards into a hedge at speed) was just recently. I had a 325 runaround while my Sport was off the road. I was driving home after meeting some pals. Got the look again. I might as well have just stopped then but I like to see thos lights flashing! Anyways that was just an "is this your car" and fix that noisy fanbelt or you'll get points (mm hmm) tug.
Next time was a few days after that. Was making progress down the Motorway and about 1am. Didn't realise there was a T5 following me. Woops. Stopped again. Routine questions including the "have you got a history of violence" one. I like that one for some reason. Anyways I kissed his arse and he said I was young and learned my lesson already. So he let me off. Cheers mate!

Got caught in Bulgaria less than a fortnight ago, doing 75 in a 55 zone (120kph in a 90kph)
Just pretended I couldnt understand the cop, even though he was speaking better english than me
Ends up he gets pissed off, and tells me to "Fcuk off"-result! no ticket, no points, no fine
My mate went through a red light one time with a Police van right behind him....
Stunning WPC gets out (bout 5'7 with long black hair and a fine set of sirens)
Comes up to the window, head right in the car and nearly kisses him, smelling for drink- at this point my mates sausage is banging off the steering wheel, and I have to do the talking for him
so anyways she said "Seeing as its Christmas, bugger off" sorted

Been pulled more times than i can remember!! Always for the most ridiculous reasons!! Including - "is that your kebab wrapper on the floor there" - while i was still eating my kebab!
Croydon cops all seem to pull you on suspicion of looking suspicious!!
Got pulled for the first time since owning this E30 on tuesday night, but luckily the cop was a nice young lady and she was actually very nice!! Went through the usuals, asked why she could hear me boot it from the roundabout, etc, then while her partner checked my name, etc, she was asking allsorts of questions about the car!! Seemed very interested and said she used to race E30 M3's at Brands hatch!!
Told me to keep it for the track and said goodbye!! Never even mentioned my dodgy plates, illegal front tints, or blacked out rear lights (some say they're illegal!). Very refreshing!!
Also, thought i recognised her but didn't say anything too her, but realised after i drove off, i think she used to work Croydon on saturday nights when i used to work in my mates nightclub - remember speaking to her a few times then!!
All the others that have pulled me have been jam rolls though!!

I was pulled over in this once

They were doing random roadside checks, had guys there specially to check the cars were road legal. They didnt know what to make of it. The windows were so dark that they would be illegal now. No front bumber or door locks or handles etc etc

Slightly off topic, and I'm no expert on this, but the law that states the standard specification of UK plates also says that any plate that is a legal specification in a EU country is also legal in the UK. I think this is for the benefit of foreign cars when they come over. Happily the law doesn't state that they have to be foreign registered vehicles.Drowningman wrote:i get tugged all the time over my dubmeister plates and a stack of fines...most cops just pull me over to ask me where i got them but avon and somerset and devon and cornwall are a nightmare...dubmeister german styles break 5 laws!!
(a) the British Standard Specification for reflex-reflecting number plates, published on 11 September 1972 under the number BS AU 145a[14], or
(b) any other relevant standard or specification recognised for use in an EEA State and which, when in use, offers a performance equivalent to that offered by a plate complying with the British Standard specification,

Bought: Obtain in exchange for payment. Brought: Come to a place with (someone or something).
These words are NOT interchangable....!

Surely you only need the BS standard & Post code if the plates were made recently, I'm sure this requirement is only a couple of years old.... just say the plates were made x years ago, and they complied then, now p!ss off

Just completed a driving course for work and the instructor was a copper. Nice guy, got to talking about BMs (he didnt like them BTW) and he told me about the 'snooker playing' when I said both my BMs were Red. He said "oh, thats the worst colour car to own, Silver is the best colour"brightyboy wrote:a mate of mine who is also a copper said they sometimes play snooker when they are bored.i guess red is a bad colour to have.
Pull a red car then a colour, red, colour & so on.....
mines silver so no snooker for me.

I got pulled 3 times in 2 hours once in Southend on Sea... I went down for a "cruise" in my old RS Fiesta... got 3 producers... each time I told the coppers I already had been given one, but they were intent on wasting my time (was 19 at the time).
Anyway, when i was back home, I made sure I submitted the producers one at a time in the police station to waste their friggin time... the bird on the counter didnt see the funny side...
what goes around, comes around... Felt a bit sorry for the people waiting in the waiting room, but hey, thats what happen when the police dick you around.
Trick is to always have your motor up to scratch, tyres etc. then if you're pulled, provided you havent done anythign wrong, there wont be any probs!

As stated, it's only quite a recent idea (the BS mark and postcode, etc.)
If you check most older cars, they don't have this.
If you say the plates are a few years old, they can't do you - as long as the reg is spaced right!!
Girlfriends KA has standard legal plates, but there's no BS, postcode, etc on them - it's a T-reg car, and the plates must be newer or they'd have the ford dealer name on them and not ilford panelbeaters!!
btw, £1000 fine can be given for a mis-spaced reg i believe!!!! Not had one yet though!!

I had the police round when my donor 535i was on the drive.
The front bumper was hanging over the pavement by about 10 inches.
I got a phone call at work saying that if the car wasn't moved within 40 minutes it would be towed away!
I rushed home from work and struggled for half an hour to move a non-running, lowered E34 on a sloping driveway.
Thing is, the pavement I was 'obstructing' ends about 25 meters from my driveway with only one more house along and I get on very well with all my neighbours. And the car was only there a few more days before the engine was removed and the rest taken away.
The woman policeman woman was the rudest, most arrogant, unreasonable sour-faced bitch I've ever met!
I pulled up next to her recently at a junction in my RX7, just as she turned left down the road I turned right in a hail of tyre smoke, screeching and fish-tailing. Hope that really annoyed her!

I think i have experianced the snooker thing, only 2 cars i have owned that i have never been pulled in for ''routien checks'' were silver and green...... got pulled in a white 1 though (it was 3 in the morning though
)
Spot on Simon, speak to them without a chip on your shoulder and they're fine, i used to get pulled every week til i was about 20, now 8 years on not a thing no matter what I drive round in. No one likes a gobby burberry wearing tw@t at the best of times, so if your civil, they are too.Simon13 wrote:

They can soon tell when u have something to hide or act like a dick. They can tell your young by the way u drive! i used to get pulled all the time when i was 17,18 but hardly ever do now. at 23!
