Read the OP - its not all E34's with the B20 donk that are attracting attention - just this oneCloggy Saint wrote:So why is the E30 b20 so derided yet the E34, which is heavier and probably even slower, is attracting this much attention?

e30topless said : Proper BMW's have 4 headlights, last of the run was the E30 and E34/E32 anything after that is just complete shite

Around 15 seconds, as demonstrated in this clip:darkchild wrote: A manual M20 520i is "leisurely" at best so the auto must be milkfloat'esque in acceleration! Does anyone know the official 0-60 figures?

did this repeatedly in my work's k plate 520ia and parked at the gate to clock in, when i turned round it was billowing smoke from a cooked gasket. A couple of months later it was parked backwards down a ditch after it kicked down on my gaffer on a roundabout. Shame really!Andyboy wrote:The unnoficial heavy traffic T junction launch procedure for the 12v auto 520i is select 1st, foot on brake, full throttle to converter stall and launch the thing.

That is clean. Utterly worthless sadly, but if you can fuel it and put up with the lack of go it's probably a sweet drive. It's from when the Germans built the best cars in the world and quality really meant something.

Being from 1990 am I right in thinking that's going to be endowed with an M20 rather than the later M50?
He quotes the cambelt change at 76k miles, with it now on 107k, surely due for another?
IME, anything with at least 6 months t&t is going to be worth £500.

Yes, it's about due a belt and water pump. £70 in parts and 2 hours work. There's a G plate 530i auto in silver around my way, super clean and sounds nice. E34's really were a 20 year car.

In September '88 I hired an E34 520i auto to take an expectant 'er indoors to a wedding in Cornwall. It was alpine white and cruised down the M5 at a steady 75mph.
However, even holding 2nd,it refused to pass a HGV up one of the hills on the A30!
Remembered for it's very comfortable ride and it's inability to get upset on any cornering attempt.
FWIW,'er indoors produced 'rubber duck89',the following March....

Anyone want this? i've been working my way to MOTing it but another e34 has caught my eye and i might need this gone quick. Ive fixed loads of issues with it alot of niggles tailgate wiring brakes, split TB pipe. etc
seats are electric memory all working, R12 A/C that i was sorting out to work. I've got shocks and springs to delete SLS. Retro fitted an OBC and cruise control - just missing the ecu which i lent to some c**t off the e36 forum who won't give it back.
Its no prize and needs welding on the rear sills. One side is done. But its a rare 525iX manual wagon with a very strong engine gearbox clutch. 151k onthe clock
